InnoPACK Unveils New Service to Divert 700,000 lbs from Landfill
Released: February 8th, 2008
LONDON, Ontario, February 8, 2008 – Bradford InnoPACK™, a North American leader in custom designed and returnable packaging since 1963, announced today the official launch of their new service, GreenSTREEM®.
Current estimates place the amount of discontinued and unusable packaging sent to landfill each year, in the millions of tonnes. InnoPACK’s GreenSTREEM will divert at least 700,000 pounds of waste from Canadian landfills in its first six months of operation.
“We are all concerned about how our businesses impact the environment. Our GreenSTREEM service provides industry with the opportunity to keep their commitment to be environmentally good corporate citizens because it offers the avenue to reuse or recycle product packaging,” says Stuart Jackson, InnoPACK Vice President of Sales.
Initially when packaging is received, it will be sorted, cleaned and inspected, and wherever possible prepared for redeployment. If it is determined that the packaging cannot be reused, it will be broken down to its basic elements and the materials will be recycled. Customers of GreenSTREEM will also be provided with an auditable volume analysis report that will detail the amount, and how the decommissioned packaging was recycled.
Early estimations, conducted by InnoPACK conclude that in 12 months of operation, GreenSTREEM will divert 1.4 to 2.5 million pounds of garbage from landfills.
Success for GreenSTREEM is growing rapidly with Toyota Canada and Honda Canada already taking advantage of this new environmentally solution for ‘end of life’ packaging.
